What is the CostCraft Financial Health Check?

The CostCraft Financial Health Check is a free, India-focused financial diagnostic tool. It takes you through six short steps — about you, monthly cash flow, emergency readiness, loans and debt, protection, and investments and retirement — and produces a structured report showing your overall financial health, your strongest areas, your most important risks, and the precise actions you should take next.

Unlike a generic quiz or lead-generation form, this is a deterministic, rule-based assessment. Every score is calculated from the numbers you enter using documented formulas. No AI modifies your score, and no financial inputs ever leave your browser.

The tool is designed to feel like a structured diagnostic designed by a finance professional — not a trading or banking app. You can print or save your report as a PDF through your browser, with no login or account required.

The six pillars of financial health

Cash Flow (20%)

Measures your savings rate and monthly surplus — whether you consistently spend less than you earn and set money aside.

Emergency Readiness (15%)

Assesses how many months of essential expenses your liquid emergency fund can cover. Variable-income households need a larger reserve.

Debt Health (20%)

Evaluates your EMI-to-income ratio, high-interest debt burden and revolving credit-card balances. A home loan is not treated the same as credit-card debt.

Protection (15%)

Checks personal and employer health cover against benchmarks, and term life cover adequacy when you have dependants. No dependants means no life-insurance penalty.

Wealth Building (20%)

Combines your current investing discipline with a retirement trajectory — projecting your corpus against an indicative requirement.

Diversification (10%)

Looks at how your investible assets are spread across equity, fixed-income and gold, adjusted for your age and time to retirement. Self-occupied property does not count as diversification.

How to use your results

Your report includes an overall score, a letter grade, six pillar scores, your top three strengths, top three risks, and five prioritised actions. Each action shows a priority level (Immediate, High, Medium or Monitor), the issue, why it matters, a specific quantified target where possible, and a link to a relevant CostCraft calculator where applicable.

The single most important action is highlighted as your “next best action” — the one with the highest combination of urgency and financial impact. Always address urgent high-interest debt and emergency-fund gaps before increasing investments.

You can print or save the report as a PDF using your browser’s print function. The printed report includes the assessment date, model version, assumptions and disclaimer.

Frequently asked questions

Is the CostCraft Financial Health Check free?

Yes. The Financial Health Check is completely free. There is no login, no account, and no payment required. All calculations run in your browser.

Does CostCraft store my financial information?

How is the financial health score calculated?

The score is calculated using a deterministic, rule-based model across six pillars: Cash Flow (20%), Emergency Readiness (15%), Debt Health (20%), Protection (15%), Wealth Building (20%) and Diversification (10%). Each pillar is scored from 0 to 100 and weighted to produce an overall score. No AI is used to calculate or modify scores.

Is this financial advice?

No. The assessment provides an indicative educational evaluation based on the information and assumptions you enter. It is not financial, investment, insurance, tax or legal advice. Consider consulting an appropriately qualified professional before making significant financial decisions.

What is a good financial health score?

Scores of 70–79 are considered Good, 80–89 Strong, and 90–100 Excellent. Scores of 60–69 need attention, 45–59 are Vulnerable, and below 45 indicate critical attention is required. The tool focuses on actionable next steps rather than judgement.

How much emergency fund should I have in India?

For stable salaried income, 3 to 6 months of essential expenses plus mandatory EMIs is a common target. For variable income, self-employed or business owners, 6 to 12 months is prudent. The Financial Health Check calculates your exact coverage based on your inputs.

Do I need life insurance if I have no dependants?

No. The Financial Health Check only assesses life insurance adequacy when you have financial dependants. A user without dependants does not lose points for not having term life insurance.
